Meet The Team

Paolo Pero

CEO

Director

Paolo has extensive experience in management, product development, quality control, scalability and operations during his 25+ year food manufacturing career. Over the years, holding the position of CEO across multiple businesses he has supplied some of the largest supermarket chains in Canada, including Save-On-Foods, Safeway, Sobeys and IGA. In addition, as a contract manufacturer his companies under private label and have provided co-packing solutions for retailers such as Walmart, Pharmasave, 7-Eleven and Whole Foods.

Matthew Amado

President

Director

Matthew has been focused on marketing strategies, branding, packaging efficiencies, import/export operations and e-commerce solutions in the food manufacturing industry for the past 7 years. His last role prior to LYF was growing market share and cutting distribution costs in the CPG pharmacy sector for diabetic food items. Matthew started his entrepreneurial journey after retiring from a 6 year professional hockey career that took him all over North America and Europe. He holds a degree from the University of Notre Dame, Mendoza School of Business, with a B.B.A. in Marketing.

Dani Majzoub

VP of Production

With over 24 years experience producing all kinds of food, her last 13 years have been spent exclusively managing and operating confectionary teams. She is also certified as a master chocolatier. Dani is able to formulate and consistently produce chocolates, gummies, hard candies, lozenges and other food items with specific taste profiles at the highest levels. She is proficient with Organic, HACCP, BRC and GMP accredited facilities. She recently won best snack food for her milk chocolate quinoa bar at the 2019 Gluten Free awards.

Jessica Bedard-St-Amant

VP of Science

Jessika brings 12 years of experience as a food chemist and flavorist previously working for Kerry, SunRype and Marvini. She has developed and successfully launched dozens of food and beverage consumer products with distribution in the Americas and Europe. She also has extensive experience in obtaining and maintaining HACCP, ISO 22 000, GMP and organic certified facilities. She holds a Masters degree in Food Science from Université Laval and a Bachelor in Chemistry from Université de Sherbrooke.

Financial Advisor

Our financial advisor brings 20+ years of experience managing and building large multi-national corporations. He was previously the CFO of a publicly traded bank with over $100 billion in assets administered and 1,200 employees in 9 international jurisdictions. He was instrumental in navigating the bank through the financial crisis which required raising multiple rounds of fresh capital from sophisticated institutional investors including CIBC, The Carlyle Group and more. He is a PwC alumni and holds the CPA/CA and CFA designations. We will disclose his name once regulatory hurdles are cleared.

Cannabis Compliance, is the world’s largest cannabis compliance firm. They carefully prepared our application package (with supporting documentation) which was submitted to the Office of Medical Cannabis at Health Canada. CCI provides strategic guidance around the proposed site and floor plan, physical security design, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the operations of the facility, security clearances for key personnel, guidance for notifying local authorities, quality assurance reports, recruitment of the Quality Assurance Person (QAP) and ongoing communication with Health Canada post-submission.

With a footprint of 10,500 square feet, the facility packs an efficient punch.

 

It was purpose-built from the ground up to maximize production flow and scalability that will enable us to keep LYF branded products at the forefront of the ever changing and evolving cannabis edibles marketplace. 

 

Our plan for multiple production lines will support our differentiated approach for a number of unique product categories. The latest methodologies and technologies will be used to infuse our proprietary cannabis extracts into precision dosed chocolate, confectionary, baked and health food edibles.
